I actually spoke to Ryan "Icculus" Gordon back in April on this and he had this to say about it: Never say never though as the saying goes, we have a lot of games we never thought we would get already! So we may not see Red Orchestra 2 or Rising Storm come to Linux at all after all sadly. QuoteCorrect, but in-between there have been many engine changes, so it is not a easy process to just upgrade to a newer build of the engine. I see so you are using an older build for RO2/RS and then Unreal did a whammy in later builds and put in Linux support? It may turn out to not be worth the cost/effort. We are looking into what it would take to bring what we need from the newer builds into our engine without breaking everything. Newer builds of UE 3 have Linux/Mac support however they are greatly different from our build.

The Unreal Engine 3 build we use for RO 2/RS does not. The Unreal Engine 2 build we use for Killing Floor has a linux build.

Our build of the Unreal Engine does not work on Linux. QuoteIt is something we are investigating but have no firm plans to do at this time. I decided to ask them if their new game Rising Storm will come to Linux and this is what they had to say on it: It gives us a small bit of info on Unreal Engine 2+3. Rising Storm, just like its fore bearer, is indeed a phenomena and worthy tactical shooter in its own way.Tripwire the developers behind Killing Floor had an email chat with me recently about the possibilities of Red Orchestra 2 and Rising Storm coming to Linux and why it currently won't. The game’s realistic gritty atmosphere, graphics, Japanese banzai attacks, and American weaponry along with balanced maps will totally get you. It’s nice to play a game where teamwork is the most important factor to obtain victory. Red Orchestra 2 Rising Storm offers a new type of gameplay to the franchise – “asymmetrical warfare” – with more improved fully automatic weapons to double the action.Ī whole squad working together can really make a difference. With a new arsenal of weapons, that relate to the American and Japanese weaponry used in the Pacific Theater to maintain historical accuracy, the game allows the player to be able to take part of either side – American or Japanese – fighting across iconic locations from the famous island-hopping campaigns in the Pacific from 1942 to 1945, giving out a rich gaming experience. It is a stand-alone expansion pack to Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad where the story revolves around the Pacific campaign of World War II. Red Orchestra 2 Rising Storm is a World War II-themed tactical first-person shooter video game developed by Tripwire.
